There are always some surprises in our year-long Kiezsalon: this time we move to Dresden, at the Technische Sammlungen, with amazing artists as Baby Dee and Aoki Takamasa. The museum of technology will host an outdoor Kiezsalon impossible to miss!
Born 1976 in Osaka, Japan. Presently living in between Osaka and Berlin. Since his first album »silicom«, released at the beginning of 2001, AOKI has been reviewing his personal methodology whilst actively creating sounds based mainly on computer/software. AOKI is an energetic artist vigorously expanding the limits of original musical expression.
His live performances are achieving as high critical acclaim in and outside with as much gravity as he personally places on the indivisibility of his creativity, the quality and intensity of which is yearly evolving. An artist who expose physical occurrences and natural phenomenon including humankind itself, by sound and photography through his penetrating point of view.
One of the industry’s most flamboyant musical discoveries of the last decade, Baby Dee is an enchanting song writer, classically trained harpist, circus sideshow veteran, and transgender street legend. Her infectious cackle and extraordinary talent on piano, harp and accordion has caught her many musical admirers including Will Oldham, Matt Sweeney, Maxim Moston, and Andrew WK, all of whom have produced unique and magnificent albums for her. Her newest release – I Am A Stick – is out on Tin Angel Records.
From April until October 2016 the Kiezsalon will once again offer a forum for innovative musical activity beyond genre boundaries and provide a meeting point for friends as well as loners, conversation and party, lovers and those who are just curious. As an interface between pop music and avantgarde the series presents compact performances by artists from diverse genres, origin and popularity.
