Since early 2015 the Kiezsalon has offered a forum for innovative musical activity beyond genre boundaries. As an interface between avantgarde, advanced pop music and interdisciplinary art the series presents compact performances by artists from diverse genres, origin and status. Initiated by Digital in Berlin and based at one of the last authentic locations in Berlin, the 120 year old Schneider Brewery. Following three exciting years, the Kiezsalon has established itself as a popular and successful series, so far hosting 72 acts from 28 countries, with an equal balance of female and male artists.
The next Kiezsalon is on Wednesday, 3th October with Japanese percussionist Asa Chang, Avant-garde saxophonist Ben Vince and Italian sound-artist Valerio Tricoli joined by the German experimental musician Hanno Leichtmann.
2018 will feature performances by artists as diverse as outer-space crooner Dent May together with Belgian sound sculptor Koenraad Ecker. Young polish synth-pop duo Coals, followed by a rare appearance of the ASS trio – consisting of Jochen Arbeit, Günter Schickert and Schneider TM. Further, we have invited American outsider artist The Space Lady along with the Japanese composer Sugai Ken who will present his latest album on RVNG Intl. A month on, we welcome Siberian shaman-folk group Namgar along with post-modern troubadour Eric Chenaux, as well as Beatriz Ferreyra, Argentinian pioneer of electronic music and Thalia Zedek’s noise-rock band E performing for our summer closing in June. Later in the year, we are excited for a collaboration by Valerio Tricoli and Hanno Leichtmann, Asa-Chang & Junray from Japan, Salon des Amateurs resident Frank D’Arpino and more.
